Welcome to UCI Badminton! We are part of the club sports program at UCI, and have members ranging from freshmen to graduate students. We compete in the Southern California Collegiate Badminton League, and our players participate in many tournaments throughout the year, including collegiate national championships. If you're interested in badminton, come check us out!

Upcoming Stuff

We've got some stuff coming up in the next few weeks you guys might like to hear about.

We have a scrimmage against UCR/SLO/USC this Saturday. Because of this, we will not be having official practice at the ARC, although there will be court time for those not making the trip.
We will be having a food fundraiser on the 23^rd. Come out and support your club by purchasing some good stuff. We'll also be having a smash at the watermelon competition at our booth with prizes!
On the 30^thwe will be hosting our first doubles pot tourney. If you haven't been invited on Facebook already, email us at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it if you want to take part. It's only $1 and it'll be fun. And don't worry, we'll ensure everyone has a fair chance at taking the prize pot by giving handicaps and forming level partnerships.
On May 16, we are hoping to participate in the OC AIDS Walk. If you are interested in participating, and you should be, please contact anyone of the officers.

Collegiates Results

CONGRATULATIONS TO UCI for getting 2nd in Collegiates this year! Thanks to everyone who came to support and coach at IVC :)! Good job to Joanne, Steven Jonatan, and Tiffany Prajudha for making it to finals!

Collegiate Nationals 2009

Collegiate Nationals is THIS WEEKEND March 21-22! It will be held at Irvine Valley College < 15 mins away from here. We will be defending our title for the third time this year! Here are our list of competing players:

The tentative schedule for Saturday is Gym open at 8:00 AM for warm up. All event will finish QF on Saturday, semi-finals and finals will be on Sunday. Saturday's first match starts 9:00 AM, 5-minute default will be enforced.

Men's Doubles (12:15PM),

Women's Doubles (2:00PM),

Mixed Doubles (3:30PM).

Come out and support our team! It is rare to have Collegiates SO CLOSE to UCI so if you want to see how we are compared on the national level, come out!

Updates for Week 6

Hope your week of midterms is just about over!

We played UCLA this past Sunday and lost 9-10. It was a close one but we did the best we could with the team we brought. I apologize for those who were not able to play another game. We will try to get rosters up in advance. We might be playing a game against UCR if you guys are interested before this quarter ends. I'll update you guys with a date, place, and time.

ACC: If you volunteered please come see Tiffany to receive your reimbursement (birds, shirts, or tournament fee) THIS WEEK during practice.

Fundraiser: Wondering what to do with all those bottles and cans? We will be collecting bottles and cans on Saturday, March 7. I'll send you guys more details as to when and where when it is a week away. Keep your calendars marked! Remember that the top money collector will receive a prize!

Shirts: Reminder for all paid members, please come get your shirts while they're still hot!!

2/14: UCSD Doubles Tournament Date: February 14th (Saturday) Start time: Warmups start at 2PM Where: UCSD, Main Gym This is a Doubles and Mixed Doubles tournament only! Entry fee is 15$ per player, for up to 2 events. Birds are to be provided by your schools. We may be providing a t-shirt, we will update you with details in the coming weeks. Please let us know ASAP, names, events and partners. ALL members may participate. DEADLINE: Thursday, February 12, 2009.
